The former summer residence of Samuel von Brukenthal has awakened from
its slumber in 2011. For nearly a decade hardly anyone was interested in
the historic treasure. The palace as well as the park and its buildings
belong to the most important monuments from the time of the
Transylvanian Baroque. In Southern Transylvania, it is indeed the only
surviving baroque ensemble at all.
The new owners of the palace strive to revive the former charm of the
ensemble – by following the ideas and concepts of Brukenthal, who had
created in Avrig from 1756 a gem in which he found recovery, but that he
also used for horticultural purposes and as a botanical garden.
